November 2007 Election (260 Days Away)
Yes...it's coming again...our city officials are up for election November 2007. Mayor Mark Boughton of course he is going to run again. But the question is what Democrat will be his challenger? Recent rumors of Councilman Saadi and Councilwoman Taborsak have since stepped down from running for the position of Mayor. Who the heck do the democrats have left??
No...If you're pushing for Dean Esposito again just drive around the streets of Danbury and you will see him cruising in a city car...that's right he is a city employee now - no need to run again!
Possibly...In today's Danbury News Times former city clerk, Helena Abrantes may take action and run against Boughton. She is currently the owner of, "The Atlantic," a fine portuguese restaurant here in Danbury and is active in the Danbury Democratic Town Committee. But will that be enough for her to make herself known?
Abrantes will further this statement about running for the mayor's position this Thursday at the Catholic War Veterans.

Unless the law changes and illegal immigrants can start voting, she won't win. People in Danbury want to deal with the illegal immigration issue not someone who will support more illegals.

People over politics is the bull___ that the mayor and many other politicians on both sides use to get elected. You are so stupid if you think the mayor actually goes by that. Look at the things the democrats want to talk about on the council... they form a committee and then the mayor appoints a chairperson that never schedules a time for it. If you want a republican that actually does work between party lines look at Janice Giegler. She does a lot for her district of the city and this is coming from a true blue democrat who voted for every democrat in the last election except for the 138th district. This goes to show you can be of different parties and work together. People over politics is fine for her but not for our very partisan mayor who should be a first selectman of a small town and nt mayor of a modern city.
bigdeal2007/anonymous-I don't know much about Janice Giegler's voting record or what specifically she's done for our city, but I do know from the few times I've met her she's walked around with her nose in the air. I'd rather have a politician in office that I feel I can talk to like Boughton. I don't see any other politicians asking residents to call the city with their problems so much so that he created an entire phone system, 311, for residents to be heard and to get things done. If you can name one other politician who gives up his Saturday mornings to sit with complaining residents for 3 hours then I would be suprised. Boughton is people over politics and if you looked past him being a republican you'd see it too.

Boughton is the only Mayor ever to appoint Democratic Chairman to lead committees. Eriquez never in 12 years did that.

Jan Giegler is possibly the best State Representative that this city has ever had. She definetly put us first. She DOES NOT stick her nose in the air, and why back a Democrat when a good one isn't there. Don't talk about someone you barely know much about because you are 100% wrong!!!
While I agree that Giegler cares, Bob Godfrey whether you love him or hate him is an asset for Danbury he is deputy speaker and shines a lot of light on the city. It is unfair to say Taborsak and Bartlett are bad because it is only two months into the 2007 session.
To say Giegler is the best there ever was is ignorant because you don't know that.
I didn't say she's the best...i meant she is one of the top. I have much respect for Godfrey as he ranks as one of the best as well. The problem I had was that people are talking bad about a person without facts. By the way when was the last time a Danbury Democrat supported a Republican...hmmm can't think of it.
Dean Esposito was an avid supporter of Gregg Seabury's campaign and the general assembly works very well with the governor. In the general assembly both parties know their place now they can't do anything without eachother.Thanks for clearing that Giegler thing up.

Friend of mine said Abrantes is truly going head to head with Boughton this election. As for the other candidates I believe Jowdy will succeed in victory over any Dem they throw up there. Kaback the same, don't think any Republican will challenge her. Natale is in it this election with Coladarci. Coladarci only lost by 100 votes and she didn't even work her butt off..City clerk position will be interesting.
Don't forget about Bernie Gallo. After loosing to State Rep. of the 138th district, Jan Giegler, he may be in the run for a city seat.
Very, very good point to t. I completley forgot about that. Now you say that and it does make sense for Gallo to run. If he can run for a seat that meets a few times a week in Hartford he can fill a seat that meets once a month on Deer Hill

He definitely isn't going to challenege Boughton, a known victory this election.

And for city clerk, thats another laugh if you think Gallo might challenege already city clerk Jean Natale. It is safe to say Eileen Coladarci has her eye on that position once again.
Thats just the top of the ticket folks, who knows Gallo might have something else up his sleeve...maybe council?
Present top of the ticket, Boughton, Jowdy, Kaback, Natale will stay the same in this 2007 election.
I don't know what you all are talking about that those who are holding office currently (especially top of the ticket) are safe.
