2007 Local Election
Recent rumors have left many wondering which democrat could be the choice to run against Mayor Boughton in the 2007 local election. I don't even think Mayor Mark Boughton has said he would run for sure yet but everyone assumes he will try for atleast one more term. Rumors have for a long time placed Councilman Tom Saadi as the top democratic candidate to run against Boughton in 2007 but recent talk suggests he's decided against it. So who could we expect to step up to the plate? I've heard talks about Councilwoman Lynn Taborsak or former City Clerk Helena Abrantes or even Democratic Town Committee Chair Joe Dasilva running. Whoever it is, it should be interesting.

what are the talks about saddi not wanting it?????
Yes I've heard as well that Councilman Thomas Saadi (4th ward) will not be in the run for the mayor's position this 2007 election. My belief is Councilwoman Lynn Taborsak (at large) will take a shot at it. Then again for such an out spoken, other terms LOUD individual I believe she would have made it known already if she was in route to run...politics is a funny game but I truly hope the one candidate who will be running is our already Mayor Mark Boughton. I think he's done a great job, reaching out to all, even across party lines. Many Danbury residents will be in dismay if Mayor Mark doesn't choose to run.
ughh after reading today's news times about the governor raising state income taxes - maybe connecticut does need a clean sweep of politicians. so let the best candidate run for the mayors position in 2007.
What is a race for mayor without Dean Esposito running and then loosing horribly? Anyone have any ideas about Lew Wallace...what about the other elected officials...
- Treasurer
- Town Clerk
- City Clerk
- Council
- Board of Ed.
- Zoning
- Constables
I heard something about Lew Wallace maybe running as well but just like Saadi, I think they realize that being Mayor is a 24/7 job and if you want to spend more time with your family or new wife this is NOT the job for you.
Yes it is a 24/7 job. Some who take such a position think they will be receiving banker's hours but sorry. You certainly have alot on your hands being Mayor and atleast Thomas Saadi and a few others have stepped down, (presently and in the past) because they knew the job wasn't fit for them. I commend them for doing so.
I believe Danbury's current elected officials are doing a fine job and this is a fine blog!
Lew Wallace if he ran would be the clear choice for mayor. He has done so much for the city in Hartford and is a very good candidate. If the democrats can find a good candidate they will win the election. Also, expect Eileen Coladarci to make another run at city clerk.
Lew Wallace would never make it as Mayor just for the fact that he doesn't want to commit the time. Any Democratic candidate would have a very hard race against Boughton. Boughton has addressed every issue you can imagine and has proven his open door policiy. He's created more communication between the public and government then any Mayor before him. Keep up the good work Mayor Boughton!
