Tomorrow night, March 6th, is once again the first Tuesday of the month which means....Common Council Meets. However tomorrow night Mayor Mark Boughton will present his spending plan for the 2007-2008 fiscal year. A previous post on this blog noted the Mayor and Director of Finance, Dena Diorio will present this budget plan a month earlier as a result of Diorio's new job position in North Carolina. She deserves to deliver this presentation with the Mayor as many many hours were put into this spending plan. What a surprise...the democrats are upset once again. I am sure if one of the democrats on the council was in Diorio's position he/she would also like to present a major accomplishment for a city he/she has worked so hard for. It is to our belief here at DBYBLOGGER that this will be the last common council meeting in which Diorio will attend. Please join us tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m., 3rd Floor, common council chambers to thumb up, thumb down the spending plan for the city of Danbury as well as wish Diorio much success in her future and gratitude for all her hard work as Director of Finance.

The parking of illegal cars on streets will be discussed and I correct with that?
I commend Mayor Mark for developing the UNIT *(unified neighborhood inspection team) in an attempt to secure safe neighborhoods.
UNIT please get out there and pick up those damn cars that are parked all over the streets (especially during a snowstorm....especially with MA and PA plates) God everywhere I look when driving Main Street I see MA & PA plates....I think I'm still living in CT right?

Loved the article in the news times about the Dems crying to the mayor that the budget can't be presented until April. Guess what Dems it's happening tonight. Go find something better to argue about

Any car with non CT plates that remains overnight and is parked in the same spot in the morning is to question.
I reported a commercial truck to the UNIT and yes it was registered however the owner was housing it in Danbury, CT. every night. The truck had PA plates.
The sudden influx of vehicles with both MA and PA plates are the result of our undocumented residents who are unable to get a drivers lisence or a vehicle registered in CT due to our more stringent regulations. These undocumented residents are using the addresses of relatives and friends in these neighboring states where the regulations are not as strict to both obtain drivers lisences and register motor vehicles. I'll bet you many of these vehicles have both registration and insurance that have lapsed. The State of CT DMV requires you to register your vehicle within 60 days of taking up residency within the state,at which time you must apply for a CT driver lisence, have valid insurance, and the vehicle inspected prior to the vehicle being registered in this state.
If it found that the undocumented residents have deliberately skirted the CT law in an effort to register a motor vehicle, and do not have proper insurance or registration, the vehicles should be immediately impounded, and the driver cited and fined.
